Spiderwort

~The Lakota Sioux made a jelly-like blue paint from these flowers,
and used it to decorate their moccasins.
The young men of the
Dakota Nation would sometimes sing songs to this beautiful
prairie lily, genus Tradescantia, which they felt personified
the women they loved.~

Those are beautiful. I love spiderwort. It is a native wildflower of Nebraska, where I grew up. It's native to Kentucky also, I think. At least, I see it here -- but you never know if it's wild or escaped from someone's garden. When I see it here, the plants are about 3 times larger than the ones in Nebraska. Maybe that's just the effect of more rain.
